STEVENAGE BATTLEGROUP

.

The Stevenage Battlegroup wargames club meets weekly on Wednesday evening between 19.00 and 22.30 in the Bedwell community centre. We also meet occasionally at other times and venues to hold games.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our activities include both wargaming (where you act as an army commander in charge of a large body of troops) and role-playing (where you represent an individual soldier). Both typically involve the use of model soldiers, tanks, ships, and so forth to help to create a feeling for the layout of a battle, and the use of a set of rules appropriate to the period and scale of conflict being represented. The aim is to achieve a realistic simulation of movement and combat - and of course to have fun!
We are interested in history as well as gaming and so often fight battles with a historical basis.
We run games set in a variety of historical periods from the Bronze Age to the present day, and some games are also set in science fiction or sword and sorcery settings.
So - if you would like to see if you are a budding Napoleon, or would like to get some feeling for the role of a humble grunt - why not come along and give it a try?
